Answers to the questions people ask most. Can't find yours? Email hello@hangshot.app and we'll help.
Where do my screenshots go?
Where Windows already saves them: Pictures, Screenshots. If you turned on Handle screenshots, they go to Hangshot's own folder instead, and only what you drag out is kept. Right-click the tray icon and choose Open screenshots folder to see them.
Can the Print Screen key open Hangshot instead of Windows' own screenshot tool?
Yes. In Settings, under Shortcuts, turn on Use the Print Screen key, and choose whether it lets you pick an area or takes the whole screen. Win+PrtScn and Alt+PrtScn keep working as before, and turning it off gives the key straight back to Windows. Nothing in your Windows settings is changed.
How do I bring the line down?
Rest your pointer against the top edge of the screen for a moment, or press Ctrl+Alt+T. Move away and it tucks itself back up.
How do I change the shortcuts?
Left-click the Hangshot icon in the corner of the taskbar to open Settings, then go to Shortcuts. Click a shortcut and press the keys you want, or press Backspace to turn it off.
Why doesn't the line appear over my game or video?
Hangshot stays hidden while an app fills the screen, so it never gets in the way. You can change that in Settings, under The line: turn off Hide over full-screen apps.
Can it pick up captures from other apps?
Yes. Hangshot picks up screenshots and recordings from any folder you choose. Add the folder in Settings, under Recordings and other apps, and new captures saved there hang on the line.
Does it work with more than one monitor?
Yes. The line comes down on the screen you're using, and captures fly to it from whichever screen you took them on.
Do recordings include sound?
Not yet. Recordings capture the screen and the pointer, encoded on your graphics card.
How do I start it with Windows?
Right-click the tray icon and turn on Open at sign-in, or find the same switch in Settings.
How do I uninstall it?
Open Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps, find Hangshot and choose Uninstall. Or open Hangshot's Settings and use Uninstall Hangshot under Advanced. The uninstaller puts back your Windows screenshot setting, and can keep your captures by moving them to Pictures, Screenshots.
Still stuck?
Email what happened and what you expected. The log file helps too: in Settings, under Advanced, choose Open folder and attach log.txt.
